It's a shame about the car list but it has most of the cars you'd expect (apart from Honda like you say) and you can make some really good looking cars, and being able to mess with interior set ups and wheel camber etc and seeing the difference visually is really cool.

I remember reading in a magazine back in the day that the jump to HD assets on the xbox360 was much more time and budget consuming hence the lack of content compared to the PS2 era games. Yeah Import Tuner Challenge is underrated imo, I just wish they'd been able to do a sequel with all the features from TXR3, because as you say the gameplay is sold, I especially like the 'chain' races where you have multiple opponents. The Kaido games too, even though I'm fucking terrible at them! Nothing else hits you with that JDM vibe like a Genki game, and they will forever have a special place in my heart. These games have such a special feeling to them that just can't be matched. I'm not far at all yet, so if you guys have any good to know tips for this particular game, I'd love to hear them! I went with the Z33, which seems like it was great bang for my buck, but I plan on upgrading to the MKIV Supra for the second half of the game. I drive an S2K IRL, so I was bummed there are no Honda's, even though I already knew lol.

Overall I'm loving it, despite the small car list. I Really think if Genki had more time to add a bunch more cars this would be the best game in the series, IMO. Plus, I think the AI is way better, the races feel much more authentic. I was tearing up the C1 loop in cockpit view with skills I never could achieve on PS2. Overall a very refined Genki driving feel.

Looking out your side windows at your opponent during the countdown is also awesome. Again, very impressive! With the dope cockpit view(which I'm used to from Forza) it made the handling so much easier to control.

Great sticker system, just spot on customization. The engine bays look fantastic, I can't wait to unlock all the upgrades to see them. I've played tons of Forza on my one X and in 4k, and still think Genki killed it with this game. Import Tuner Challenge / Shutokou Battle X Car List 0:00 Normal 2:26 Custom (rivals cars) duplicate cars doesn't count if. The cars, lighting, and city all look surreal. The game looks great for an early 360 game. Then I said fuck it and bought Import Tuner Challenge. Then I played 3 again, and was kind of impressed with the graphical improvement, which surprised me. I was hooked, the progression in that game is so addicting. I was feeling nostalgic a few weeks ago and fired up Zero. The diversity of rivals was a main component of my TXR joy, and so I wrote it off and never played through it.įast forward over a decade and here we are. Like perhaps many of you, I was a huge fan of Tokyo Xtreme racer since I was a wee lad, starting since 13 year old me got Zero on ps2.įast forward to teenage me, who was super excited to hear Import Tuner Challenge was actually a Tokyo Xtreme Racer, but was feeling heartbroken when I saw how small the car list was.
